BIOGRAPHY OF BRANDI LYNN NIETO, J.D.

Brandi Lynn Nieto is a former Deputy District Attorney who has practiced in the Greeley area
for over five years. She holds a Baccalaureate of Science Degree in Sociology emphasizing
Criminology from Colorado State University in Pueblo and a Juris Doctorate from the University
of Colorado School of Law.
     
     She has served on the Board of Directors for A Woman's Place, the only domestic violence
agency in Weld County, from 2007 to present and has had a long history of volunteering in the
community with a variety of organizations including the Colorado Bar Association Mock Trial
Program, the Domestic Violence Coalition, and the Boys and Girls Club.

     Brandi was previously awarded Weld County Prosecutor of the Year in 2006 and named as
Outstanding GLBT Ally Attorney of the Year in 2009 for her work in the case of People v.
Andrade, where she helped to successfully prosecute the first Bias-Related Crime committed
against a Transgender victim in the United States. Brandi has handled a variety of cases and
her current emphasis is in Family Law and representations of Domestic Violence victims.
